We get our own first flashback, where Rebekah’s carving her name to the wall and Klaus is usually worried that she’ll find yourself in trouble for handling a blade – we discover that Klaus is really a little scared of her daddy, as is Rebekah (“that’s precisely why we stick together mutually, always and forever”). Back in our, here comes the biggie — there’s another name about the wall. Mikael. Yep, that vampire-slayer? Just happens to get Klaus’s father. (I’d also choose to take this opportunity to say Klaus’ Viking hair. Astounding. )

Alaric takes photos pores and skin drawings and then follicles over them as Damon tries to show Elena some fighting skills (this means there are various the pair grabbing each other etc, which is rather exciting). Damon’s unconvinced they’ll have the capacity to figure out what this Original-slaying weapon is on the pictures, but Elena includes a plan – go right to the source

So she visits see Rebekah, who’s really had this cheerleading thing – she’s all blonde plaits and also backflips (and mean : loved her “You. Goodie” while Elena turned up). Regardless, Elena wants to find out why Rebekah and Klaus happen to be running from their father – if Rebekah doesn’t spill, Elena could just ask Mikael. And when she says she knows where they are, Rebekah visibly freaks released, but she pretends not to and heads back on the cheerleaders.

In a flashback, Elijah and Klaus are having some fun fighting – but Mikael seriously isn’t so impressed. He’s not only a nice chap, actually – “We fight for survival and also you find time for entertaining?! ” – and ultimately fighting with Klaus. He soon overpowers him or her and slams his sword right beside Klaus’s head, saying it’s really a miracle he’s still alive. Okay, so Klaus possesses daddy issues, then…

Back in our, Elena’s convinced that Rebekah is going to spill (once they’ve bought a “mean girl power struggle” from the way). Alaric’s not and so sure, but sure more than enough, Elena gets a text from Rebekah telling her to come over to get a chat. Success! When your lady leaves, Alaric continues to puzzle with the symbols, with some good results. And when Bonnie makes over that indestructible necklace, they realise that this logo on it indicates witch. (This little moment also gives Alaric an opportunity to call Jeremy an idiot and also say he’ll learn ultimately. Cute. )

Elena visits see Rebekah, who’s preoccupied by simply compelling unsuspecting girls for you to model possible homecoming attire. Elena moans that she’s not there to help you Rebekah shop, but Rebekah doesn’t take too kindly into the criticism – in point, she grabs one from the girls and pops out there her fangs. Elena of course quickly picks a attire and Rebekah growls: “Do not threaten me. You will learn what I let you learn. Is that crystal clear? ” Naturally, Elena’s gonna nod.

Rebekah is initially more thinking about snooping through Stefan’s area, but Elena pushes her – but why do her family ended ” up ” here? Well, Rebekah explains than a plague struck their homeland as well as her parents lost a youngster. They heard from their witch that there was a land where anyone was healthy and lucky with speed and strength (basically, they were werewolves). So the Originals relocated there and lived in peace while using werewolves for over TWENTY years – and and here , Rebekah was born.

We obtain flashback narrated by Rebekah, now – plus it turns out the tranquility couldn’t last forever. Instead of hiding in the caves from the werewolves like they were supposed to, Klaus and his close friend Henrik snuck out to view – and Henrik could not survive it. Rebekah’s mother Esther begs the witch to save lots of him, but there’s nothing she can do. And that was this – the peace ended up being over, and the friends and family wouldn’t be human intended for long. Rebekah’s surprisingly and touchingly emotional at this time, coughing and blinking returning tears.

Rebekah pauses just to be on about how Stefan and Elena are a weird couple and vampires do not have time to care about humans and their “silly tiny lives”, but Elena tips out that she looked like she cared with regards to Homecoming. Burn. Anyway, Elena claims that she’s gonna go but of course Rebekah really wants to tell the story, so she reveals the fact that necklace belonged to the witch – the one that put the curse upon Klaus. AND turned these people into vampires…

In the flashback, we see Mikael and also Esther begging their witch to ask the spirits for methods to protect their children – like a vampire was a kind of protection, not a problem. And what’s more, Mikael would like to be superior to the actual werewolves in every method – faster, more agile, better. But the witch refuses to accomplish it – the spirits will first start up them! – so Mikael transforms to Esther. It is at her hands. Yep, you heard right – Esther is some sort of witch. The witch in the Original family. THE FIRST WITCH.

Esther didn’t turn – you can’t be a witch as well as a vampire – but she did call on the sun for life and the ancient white oak shrub for immortality. And after that Mikael fed everyone wine beverages laced with blood in addition to drove his sword through their hearts. Nice. (I loved present when Rebekah says Mikael wasn’t delicate to sort it out, and then snaps some sort of bottle. Chilling. )

Within another flashback, we see Klaus and Rebekah getting up – and then Mikael brings them a lady to feed on to complete the ritual. He tussles with Klaus but eventually forces Rebekah to feed – plus it was “euphoric”. But Rebekah confirms that there were problems – Esther determined how they could walk inside sun (those rings) though the neighbours kept them away, the vervain hurt these people, and they burned the oak tree on the ground to prevent the idea killing them. Oh, in addition to Esther and Mikael have never anticipated the being hungry for blood…
